Between now and Election Day, the most urgent priority is for voters need to see one ad on broadcast TV that says Corey O’Connor is willing to say and do anything in order to get elected, including changing his positions to please his big donors like UPMC executives, predatory real estate developers, and MAGA advisors.
Voters need to see, in one ad:
- That Corey O’Connor has taken more than $160,000 in campaign cash from MAGA Republican mega-donors and attended a secret event hosted by one of Trump’s top Pennsylvania consultants. 1, 2, 3
- That [UPMC Board Members and their families] “have contributed at least $25,000 toward O’Connor’s mayoral campaign so far this year, according to campaign finance records.” Voters should know that “before the checks came in, O’Connor publicly supported Gainey’s more aggressive approach to ‘fight so-called charities abusing their tax-exempt status.’ Following these donations in January and February, he changed his tune. 4
- That Corey O’Connor admitted to holding a closed-door big money fundraiser with real estate executives that brought in $90,000 and even took maximum contributions from Walnut Capital executives. Now, O’Connor has taken a position to oppose Gainey’s citywide affordable housing plan. 5, 6
The second priority should be for voters – especially voters under 45 – to see the same messages online that they are seeing on broadcast tv.
The third priority, only after the first and second priority is completed, should be for voters in the following neighborhoods to hear directly from people on their doorsteps about the Mayor’s strong first term record, and that they need to show up to vote on or before May 20th.
